Peter J McCarthy – Music Producer

🎵 Calling Me Out – Debut Album coming soon

“Calling Me Out” is the debut album from Irish filmmaker, musician, and storyteller Peter J McCarthy. Four years in the making, the record is both intimate and expansive — a body of work that confronts loss, memory, and survival through melody and raw lyrical honesty.

At its heart lies the tragic story of Peter’s brother, Frank, who died by suicide in 2018 following years of addiction and mental health struggles. Out of grief came songs that balance vulnerability with resilience, transforming difficult truths into music that is haunting yet melodic, cathartic yet accessible.

Peter worked closely with producer Anthony Gibney (Audioland Studios) and drummer David Hingerty (Side4Collective), with contributions from some of Ireland’s leading musicians: Robbie Malone (bass guitar), Mark Ellison (lead guitar), and Simon Brady (bass). Together, they have crafted an album that sits between singer-songwriter intimacy and full-band power, with influences spanning rock, folk, and alternative sounds.

🔹 The Songs

Each track on Calling Me Out circles the themes of conflict, loss, and the fragile line between despair and healing:

  • Calling Me Out – A restless, driving opener that captures the cycle of chaos and confrontation, where memory, regret, and self-destruction echo through the refrain.

  • Message – A haunting meditation on mortality and the voice of the dead, where brokenness and fleeting moments of grace collide.

  • Rolling Stone – Stark and poetic, the song likens a life in freefall to a stone tumbling endlessly, searching for air and release.

  • On Your Own – A tough-love anthem about watching someone spiral and accepting that they must face their struggle alone. Both empathetic and unflinching, it’s one of the album’s emotional centres.

  • So Lo – A raw portrayal of shame, self-destruction, and the corrosive forces that eat away at a person from within.

  • The Spaniard – A surreal and cinematic closer, exploring disintegration, identity, and the search for light amid the cold collapse of the self.

Each song carries its own emotional weight, but together they form a journey — one that acknowledges pain yet insists on melody, rhythm, and the possibility of connection.
